This website
No cookies, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party scripts or fonts. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles your IP address and basic request details to deliver the pages and protect them from attack.
When you email me or use the form
The free report form sends what you type to me as an email; nothing is stored on the website. Whether you use the form or email me, I use your name, email address and what you send (for example, the firms and areas you’d like checked) to reply, prepare reports and run the service. The legal basis is taking steps you’ve asked for before a contract, then the contract itself, and my legitimate interest in running the business.
I keep correspondence for two years after we last spoke. Anything that forms part of my business records, such as invoices, is kept for six years because the law requires it.
If I emailed you first
I find business contact details for marketing agencies on their own public websites and may email them about Tipped By, relying on my legitimate interest in telling relevant businesses about the service. If you’d rather not hear from me, reply “no thanks” or email me and I’ll stop. I keep a note of your address only so I don’t contact you again.
Reports
Reports count how often AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name firms in their answers, and which sites they cite. The questions sent to those assistants contain no personal data, and I don’t collect data about members of the public for reports.
Who else sees it
I use a small number of providers to run the business, such as my email and website hosts. They handle data only to provide their service to me. Some are based outside the UK; where that happens, I rely on the safeguards UK law provides, such as adequacy regulations or standard contract clauses. I never sell personal data.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, and ask me to correct it, delete it, limit how I use it or stop using it. You can always object to marketing, and I’ll stop. Email me and I’ll reply within a month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
